If Cards against Humanity was a person, it would be Deadpool: Funny
in all the wrong ways, extremely inappropriate, and fully aware of both of
these.
The movie opens with Deadpool/Wade Wilson riding in a taxi to
a freeway overpass, where he sits waiting for a convoy of black vehicles. Once
they come into sight, he allows himself to fall of the overpass, through the
sunroof of the lead car, where he begins fight it’s passengers, who are group of
mercenaries. During the fight it is revealed that Deadpool has accelerated
healing, bullet wounds heal in seconds. Once the mercenaries have been beaten,
Deadpool interrogates his target, Francis. He wants Francis to fix what he has
done to him (Wade). While Wade will survive and heal from basically anything
thanks to the experiments Francis performed on him, Wade’s cancer cells have
spread over Every inch of his body, leaving him looking like Freddy Krueger.
During his interegation, two Xmen arrive: Colossus and Negasonic Teenage
Warhead. During the confrontation, Francis escsapes and Colossus tries to bring
Deadpool in by handcuffing Wade to himself. Wade escapes by cutting off his
hand and by jumping into a passing garbage truck, where he goes into a flashback
showing us how he got to where he was.
After Francis returns to his base, he tells his
sidekick/employee that now he knows who has been disrupting their operations (Wade). To get back at Deadpool, Francis goes after
the woman Wade loves, his ex-girlfriend Vanessa. Wade convinces Colossus and
Negasonic to help him, and the trio take a cab to the scrapyard. While Colossus
and Negasonic battle Angel Dust and several soldiers, Wade fights his way
through Ajax's henchmen, and eventually engages him. After Angel Dust defeats
Colossus, Negasonic attacks her, but accidentally destroys the equipment
holding the helicarrier upright. As the helicarrier tips over, Colossus carries
Negasonic and Angel Dust to safety, while Wade saves Vanessa. Ajax survives and
attacks Wade, but is subdued and reveals there is no cure for Wade's
disfigurement. Despite objections from Colossus, Wade kills Ajax. Vanessa is
angered that Wade left her, but still loves him. She accepts him, and they
reconcile by kissing.
The film itself was amazingly shot and unlike the last film Deadpool was in (Wolverine: origins) they stuck very closely to the source material. I usually don't like it when films tell large parts of the story through flashbacks but it works very well in this. Full of inappropriate humor and references, it is a great film.
